Years ago, as I was developing presence work with money, I was working with a client, a corporate nurse in Denver, Colorado, who was struggling with implementing the concept into real-time experiences. She really wasn’t understanding how the presence practice could impact her finances — instead, she wanted to be on the phone with me to complain about her financial drama.

Although I was empathetic, I insisted that if she let the money drama go and focused her presence practice on being more present in her body during her financial transactions and money conversations and salary negotiations, that her money life would get better.

We wrestled with it.

And then, three sessions in to the coaching, she paused mid-sentence in her financial drama talk and said, “Oh, wow. I think I get it, Dana. What you’re trying to tell me is that if I’m present in my body with my money during financial events, it’s like saying to the money, ‘Hey. Money. Here. Right here. Come here. X marks the spot!'”

And I emphatically agreed with her because who was I to stand in the way of her financial epiphany! It was probably one of the most fun Somatic Money translations AND transformations I witnessed.

Because in a matter of several more sessions, my client showed up raving about how she was working her presence practice, dropping the drama, and her boss was finally listening to her. So much so that the department was beginning to implement her ideas AND she went into salary negotiations and won a raise . . . all with the practice of being present with her money.

It turns out that when

your money shows up for you.

The idea here is to system-interrupt the heavy toxic financial patriarchal drum beat in our capitalistic culture — that largely focusses on the logical intellectualization of money — to say that you and your authentic presence matters with your money. YOU matter in your own money equation. How?
